Hippocrates
Welcome! This space is more than just a collection of recipes—it’s a celebration of love, tradition, and nourishment, inspired by my mother, JoAnn Ransford.
JoAnn was more than an incredible cook—she was an artist in the kitchen. She had an unmatched talent for bringing people together with food that felt like home. Her recipes weren’t just meals—they were memories, crafted with love, joy, and an endless curiosity for new flavors. Whether it was collecting cookbooks or clipping recipes from magazines and newspapers,
JoAnn always found ways to put her own creative spin on every dish. You can read more about her story and legacy here.
She passed that passion on to me—Emon Ransford. Under her guidance, I found my own rhythm in the kitchen, experimenting and evolving from those early lessons into what I call my “amateur craft.” I’ve taken what she taught me, added my own twists, and now I share it here—because I believe that food should both nourish the body and warm the soul. You can learn more about my journey here.
This site is dedicated to healthier takes on the traditional recipes we love. The kind JoAnn would have loved to explore—only now with health-conscious substitutions, easy-to-follow instructions, and a focus on nutrient-dense ingredients that support wellness without sacrificing flavor.
Here, you’ll find:
Food has always been about connection—to family, to culture, to ourselves. My mission is to make healthy, satisfying meals accessible and enjoyable, while honoring the traditions that make food meaningful.
So, grab your apron (and maybe a recipe card, just like JoAnn would have), and let’s make something delicious—something that feeds your body, honors your journey, and keeps the spirit of cooking alive.
Here’s to nourishing traditions and thriving together.
