JoAnn’s Journey provides educational resources and recovery tools for stroke, aneurysm, and brain injury survivors, caregivers, and families. The information on this site is not medical advice, always follow your clinician/OT/PT guidance and call 911 for emergencies. You may use our free downloads for personal, non-commercial purposes, but you may not resell or republish them. Purchases made through Amazon follow Amazon’s policies, and donations processed through PayPal are generally non-refundable (except where required by law). Physical recovery tools should be used safely and as tolerated; packaging may include plastic and small parts that can pose suffocation/choking hazards. By using this site, you agree to these Terms, which may be updated periodically.

Welcome to JoAnn’s Journey (“JoAnn’s Journey,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of joannsjourney.org (the “Site”), including any content, downloads, forms, and services made available through the Site.

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1) Who We Are

JoAnn’s Journey is an educational and mission-driven resource focused on stroke, aneurysm, and brain injury awareness and recovery support.

2) Medical and Educational Disclaimer

The Site provides general educational information and supportive tools. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for professional diagnosis, treatment, or clinical guidance.

If you think you or someone else may be experiencing a medical emergency (including stroke symptoms), call 911 immediately.

You are solely responsible for how you use the Site and any information you obtain from it.

3) Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes are effective when posted to this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

4) Permitted Use and User Conduct

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not harm others or interfere with the Site’s operation.

You agree not to:

Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its systems

Introduce malware, scrape, or disrupt the Site

Use the Site to harass, defame, or promote unlawful activity

Reproduce or redistribute Site content except as allowed under these Terms

5) Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the Site and its content (including text, graphics, downloads, PDFs, logos, and page design) are owned by JoAnn’s Journey or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.

You may view, download, and print materials for personal, non-commercial use unless a specific page grants additional permission.

6) Downloads License (Free Resources)

Where we provide free downloads (such as glossaries, guides, and quick-start documents), you may use them for personal or internal caregiver support purposes.

You may not:

Sell, resell, or commercially exploit the downloads

Remove branding/attribution

Upload the downloads to commercial marketplaces or republish them as your own

If a hospital, clinic, nonprofit, or organization wants to reproduce or distribute materials at scale, please contact us for written permission.

7) Product Information and Safety

Some JoAnn’s Journey resources may include physical tools intended to support rehabilitation activities (for example, hand therapy items). Use any physical product only as tolerated and consistent with your clinician/OT/PT plan of care.

Safety & Packaging Notice: Some components may be individually wrapped for cleanliness and protection. Keep all plastic bags and packaging away from children and pets—suffocation risk. Products may contain small parts—choking hazard. Not intended for children. Discontinue use if you experience sharp pain, increasing numbness/tingling, swelling, skin irritation, dizziness, or worsening symptoms, and consult a healthcare professional.

8) Purchases Through Third Parties (Amazon) and Donations (PayPal)

Third-party purchases: If you click “Buy Now” or otherwise purchase products through a third-party platform (including Amazon), your purchase is governed by that third party’s terms, policies, and customer service processes.

Donations: If you donate through the Site, donations are typically processed through third-party payment processors (including PayPal). Donation processing, receipts, and any applicable terms are also governed by the payment processor’s policies. Donations are generally non-refundable except where required by law.

9) Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may include links to third-party websites and services (including Amazon, PayPal, and Google services such as reCAPTCHA). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk.

10) Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

11) Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JOANN’S JOURNEY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE OR CONTENT.

IN ALL CASES, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US DIRECTLY THROUGH THE SITE IN THE SIX (6) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

(Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions, these limits apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.)

12) Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless JoAnn’s Journey and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any rights of another.

13) Copyright Complaints

If you believe content on this Site infringes your copyright, contact us with:

A description of the copyrighted work

The URL of the allegedly infringing material

A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized

A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate

14) Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in Maryland, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

15) Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and JoAnn’s Journey regarding the Site.
